Sunsetting Apps

If you plan to discontinue your app, it must go through a sunsetting process which essentially shuts it down and notifies users that it is no longer supported or usable. To ensure a smooth experience follow these steps:

  1. Contact the Overwolf team—before sunsetting your app notify the Overwolf team and share:

    • The planed sunset date.
    • User communication method. (See Informing your users).
    • If you app should be unpublished (hidden from the store) or left available till the sunset date.\

  2. Informing your users—it is strongly recommend that you notify your users of the planned sunset and its date in advance through:

    • In-app messages.
    • Discord or social channels.
    • Appstore description updates.

  3. Disable monetization (if applicable)—if your app uses Overwolf monetization services (Ads and Subscriptions), coordinate with the Overwolf team to ensure that monetization features are disabled in a timely manner.

  4. Unpublish the app—once the sunset date arrives, your app will be unpublished from the Overwolf Appstore, and the Overwolf team will upload a sunset version to your console's Release Management section.
